Turn over the work and ch 2. Dc 2 in the corner st. [Ch 2, dc 2 in the same corner, dc 1 in each of the next 3 sts. Dc 2 in the next corner] X 3. Ch 2, dc 2 in the corner, dc 2 sts. Sl st to join to the first ch 2 of the row.

Row 2

Turn over the work and ch 2. Dc 2 in the corner st. [Ch 2, dc 2 in the same corner, dc 1 in each of the next 7 sts. Dc 2 in the next corner] X 3. Ch 2, dc 2 in the corner, dc 4 sts. Sl st to join to the first ch 2 of the row.

Row 3

You will make the following number of squares for each color:&nbsp;
28 squares in color A (Black)
46 square is color B (Ocean Blue)
46 squares in color C (Wheat)
28 squares in Color D (White)

Assembly

Using Color D, sl st join each of the granny squares using the back loops.
To connect the front panels to the back, start with the top shoulders of the panels, joining two squares.
Skip the first two squares on the sides for the fronts and backs for the sleeve holes.
Sl st down three squares on each side to seam the sweater together.
Attach the sleeves.
Weave in all the ends.

You are going to make five seperate pieces based on the color pattern below. The sleeves, front panel, and back panel are written by the Color A, B, C, D:

Finishing + Collar

Attach Color D to the front corner of the sweater and sc 1 all around the seams edge. Ch 1 at the corners. Sl st to join once you make it back around the edge.

Finishing Crochet Row

Chain: Once back at the bottom corner of the sweater, ch 9.
Row 1: Turn and sc 8 back toward the side of the sweater. Sl st back up 2 sts on the side of the sweater.
Row 2: Turn and blsc 8 back down the collar.
Row 3: Turn and blsc 8 back toward the side of the sweater. Sl st back up 2 sts on the side of the sweater.
Repeat rows 2 and 3 for the entire collar until you match up to the bottom corner of the sweater.&nbsp;
Finishing Row: Sc continuing around the bottom border of the sweater, ending with sc 8 back onto the first sc of row 1.&nbsp;
Fasten off and weave in ends.

Collar

The finishing edge is worked after assembly and goes all around the sides of the sweater. The collar is then made and attached to that edge around the neckline.

Four Section Granny Squares

With color B, sl kt, ch 3. Sl st to the first ch to create a circle.

Ch 3. Dc 2. Ch 1. Pull color B tail to the back of the work. Place color C on hook and ch 1. Now dc 3. Ch 1. Pull

Turn your work over to face the wrong side. Color E is on the top color B is on the right. Continue with Color E, ch
3, place dc 2 in corner ch space. Ch 1. Dc 3 in corner ch space. Ch 1. Switch to color D. Repeat dc 3, ch 1 around until you complete all 4 colors. To join, Ch 1. Sl st to color A.

Repeat row 2, switching between the 2 colors, turning your work back and forth &amp; adding another [ch 1, dc 3] repeat, until there are 6 rows total. Fasten off and weave in ends.

Row 3 - Row 6

You're going to make granny squares using 4 color changes. Use Color B - Color I at random.

Two Section Triangles

With color B, sl kt, ch 3. Sl st to the first ch to create a circle.

With color B ch 3, dc 2. Ch 1. Pull color B tail to the back of the work. Place color C on hook and ch 1. Now dc 3.
Ch 1. Pull color C tail to the back of the work. Turn work.

With color C ch 3, dc 2. Ch 1, dc 3, ch 1 in corner space. Pull color C tail to the back of the work. Place color B on hook and ch 1, dc 3 in same corner space as color C. Ch 1, dc 3. Pull color C tail to the back of the work. Turn work.

Triangles used as the edge pieces. You're going to make granny square triangles using 2 color changes. Use Color B - Color I at random.

With color A, sl st to the bottom left corner of a triangle. Ch 3, dc 2, ch 1 then [dc 3, ch 1] x 5 along the bottom of the triangle. At the corner, (dc 3, ch 2, dc 3). Continue [ ] X 5 along the right side of the triangle.
At the top center of the triangle, dc 3, ch 2 like the corner then grab a new granny square and place the last dc 3 in the bottom left corner of the square. *Insert your hook in the ch 1 space of color A &amp; sl st 1 to attach. Dc 3 back in the next open ch 1 of the square. Repeat * X 5 until you reach the corner. To join the corners, Ch 1, sl st to the corner ch 2 space of color A, ch 1 then continue [ ] X 5 along the right side. At the corner ( ), then continue [ ] X 5 along the top of the square. Continue the bottom, right, top, join method until you've added the correct amount of squares to the row. Join the last triangle from the center point by repeating * then [ ] down the entire left side of the row. Be sure to ch 1, sl st, ch1 to incorporate the ch 2 between joins. At the end of the row dc 3 in the same space as the first stitches, ch 2 and sl st to the top of ch 3. Fasten off.
Repeat row 1 but at the bottom right corner of the first triangle, join the corners together with the bottom left corner of the first triangle and continue to attach the right side of the new row with the left side of the first using the * technique.

Please refer to the chart above to assemble this blanket correctly. Start at the red arrow. You will fasten off after each row. The granny square join technique will create the lattice quilt appearance. Add the 4 corner triangles at the end of assembly using the granny square join technique or leave them off to create a rounded corner blanket.

Border

Ch 1. Sc around in each stitch. Sl st to the top of ch 1. Fasten off and weave in the ends.

Use all of the remaining crochet yarn to make a border.

Beginner Crochet Christmas Stockings 

I make stockings every year and this year I decided to make my own beginner crochet Christmas stockings pattern. This pattern is much more simple than it looks. Color changes are what make the pattern looks so nice.
I took inspiration from more of the traditional style crochet but I still wanted the pattern repeat to be simple to follow along as a beginner crocheter.

Magic Circle

Chain (ch) 1. Half double crochet (hdc) 10. Slip stitch (sl st) join to the ch 1 space at the start.&nbsp;

Ch 1. Hdc 2 in each stitch. Sl st join.

Ch 1. (Hdc 2, hdc 1). Repeat () around. Sl st join.

Ch 1. (Hdc 2, hdc 1, hdc 1). Repeat () around. Sl st join.

Ch 1. (Hdc 2, hdc 1, hdc 1, hdc 1) X 4. Hdc 2, sl st in the next 3 stitches. Repeat () X 4. Hdc 2, hdc 1, hdc 1, fasten off orange, leaving one stitch left. Weave in ends.

Let's start by making the main part of the coaster. Use orange for this round.

Stem

Join brown yarn with a slip stitch (sl st) to the skipped stitch on the pumpkin. Chain (ch) 3. Double crochet (dc) 1 in the same stitch. Dc 1 in the join space. Ch 3. Sl st to first stitch in last row of pumpkin. fasten off.&nbsp;

Leaf

Slip stitch (sl st) to the last chain (ch) 3 of the stem. Ch 5.

Half double crochet (hdc) 4 in the second chain from the hook. Hdc 4 in each of the remaining 3 chains. Sl st to the same space as the first slip stitch in row 1. Fasten off and weave in the ends.

Optionally, you can add a leaf detail to the coaster.

Darning needle

Place the end of the yarn in your palm facing down. Place your thumb on top of the yarn. Feed the yarn between your middle and ring finger, then rotate your hand down. Wrap the yarn around your entire hand to the left of your first strand, pulling the yarn up, and placing the end between your pinky and ring finger. Insert your hook from right to left under the first yarn strand and grab the second strand, pulling it under the first. Let go of the yarn and chain 1 to secure the circle.

Sleeve Cuffs

Chain 7. Turn work to see back bumps.

(6 slip stitches total) Chain 1, Slip stitch 1 in the second bump from the hook then slip stitch 1 in each of the remaining 5 stitches. Turn work.

(6 stitches total) Chain 1, back loop slip stitch in each stitch
Repeat row 2 until the band can easily fit around your wrist (about 7-7.5 inches not stretched)

1. Make sure both tails are on the same side of the work, pointed to the right side
2. Folding the last row toward yourself, place the first row over the last row
3. Take the loop off hook and insert the hook in the back loop of the first row
4. Place the last loop back on the hook
5. Pull the last loop all the way through the first loop to complete a slip stitch
6. Slip stitch through the back loop of both the first and last row through the remaining 5 stitches
7. Turn the band inside out

Join

Make 2 sleeve cuffs. This section is worked in flat rows then joined togther to make the sleeve cuff.

A loose-fitting sweater with buttons

This is a quick sweater that you can complete over the course of about a week! Please feel free to adjust the waist, waistband, sleeve length, and body length or add fun pockets for a different look.
I designed this pattern using scrap yarn so feel free to change hook sizes or double yarn to create cool color combos.
